Buca Faculty of Education (FoE) started education in 1959 under the name of İzmir (Girls) Education Institute and became a faculty affiliated to Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) in 1982 and its name was changed to Faculty of Education in 1982. It aims to achieve international standards with its education and research projects. The faculty carries out artistic and cultural activities in the field of teacher education by improving the educational environments (classrooms, laboratories, workshops and lecturer offices) of students and lecturers, following and producing new educational technologies, innovative, creative, having ethical values. It aims to educate educators and educational researchers who will shape the future of our country and our people with an advanced academic staff who can establish effective communication and cooperation with their stakeholders and who can assume a leadership role in the process of social transformation in a contemporary sense. In addition, the faculty aims to educate teachers who will be social engineers and contribute to the social, cultural, economic, scientific and technological development of our nation and humanity by conducting teacher education at universal standards and research and teaching activities in this field. All our academic departments aim to train qualified teachers who are aware of contemporary measurement and evaluation approaches, who can organize teaching activities in line with technological developments, who can use different teaching methods and strategies in teaching processes, and who can follow the studies in their field. Our faculty has 8 departments and 26 departments providing teacher education. It has 177 academics and 5188 students. Our faculty has 4 Chemistry, 4 Physics, 4 Biology Laboratories, 2 Multi-Purpose Halls, Conference Hall, Computer Laboratories. We also have cooperation in Erasmus+, Farabi and Mevlana Exchange Programmes. After the 6 February earthquake, our faculty supports the well-being of children with education, science, art, play workshops, sports and play activities. Psychological counselling services and career counselling continue to work. It also provides face-to-face and distance education support to our students affected by the earthquake so that they can prepare for exams.
